After migrating to Exchange 2010 many organizations want to archive their PST files in new archive
mailboxes, and at last, remove PST files from their network.
The problem is that the standard tool provided with Exchange 2010 does the job only-partially as it
doesn't provide a way to collect all PST files across your corporate network. Also, it doesn't include
any post-archiving actions like removing the PST files from user's profile or mark them as read-only.
PSTStation helps organizations run a full archiving process on PST files with a unique tool that
includes a search engine to locate PST files over the network, a native archive connector to
Exchange 2010 and a job engine for post-actions on PST files.
With PSTStation Corporate®, you will:
- locate PST files stored on your network wherever they are stored
- select emails/folders directly in the source PST files
- archive to Exchange 2010 24/7
- remove PST file from user's profile or mark as read-only

> Central and incremental backup for opened PST files
Top
|
|
Backup Microsoft Outlook® PST files is really a painful job because these files can be locked by Outlook® and standard backup solutions back up each time the whole file even if there is no new messages stored in it.
PSTStation Corporate® makes PST backup very much easier as it helps IT administrators to back up from a central point any PST files stored on a remote workstation, a file share server or a laptop.
Backup can be incremental with backup of new messages only, reducing dramatically the volume of daily backed up data.
It can be run even if Outlook® is opened on remote workstation or laptop and then eliminate the need of a backup window time.
Destination backup PSTs can be stored locally to PSTStation Corporate® server or a NAS.

Managing backup for laptops is not as easy as the computer is not always connected to the corporate network. And when it's connected, most often, PST files are in use as user is currently working.
Thanks to PSTStation's BackupOnDemand job, IT administrators can now schedule PST backup jobs that will run at next laptop's connection. Once connected to the corporate network, user's laptop will get it's backup job and save new messages to PSTStation Corporate® Server.
As for standard workstations or files share servers, backup is incremental and can be run even if user is running Outlook.
OnDemand jobs can also be used for standard workstations.

Today, many organizations do not include Outlook® PSTs in their email compliance policies because these files are too numerous and out of control from IT departments. Likewise, when an eDiscovery has to be run throughout the company, including PST in the process is very often impossible within the legal period allowed to issue the results.
PSTStation Corporate® v3 allows organizations to define groups of users whose PSTs can be analyzed. When connected to M+Analytics, IT managers will be able to locate these PSTs, to regularly retrieve new content and make it available for any compliance officer or legal advisor.
PSTStation Corporate® v3 also speeds eDiscovery process by allowing managers to quickly filter PSTs whose content satisfies the search criteria. This avoids retrieving all PST content in a third repository before running any searches.
Once identified, PST content is archived and held in M+A servers to be further analyzed by legal advisors through M+Analytics.
Once archived, the PST size on remote computers can be locked, preventing users from storing any new items in their PSTs.

One way to reduce PST storage is to compact your PSTs frequently to recover space from deleted items. This action must be run by the user on his workstation, but is not user friendly and can be time consuming as it freezes the application.
By running PSTStation Corporate® , organizations will reduce the global size for all their PSTs and then, will consume less storage.
With PSTStation Corporate®, compaction job, administrator can run this task from a central location on user's PSTs and without any user action.
PSTStation Corporate® compaction is based on the standard Outlook® compaction process and will preserve 100% of the integrity of the PST files.

PSTs that become too big or oversized can become instable and lead to loss of data.
The best way to avoid this is to often check PST's size, warn users when it comes over a non-acceptable limit to let users take appropriate actions like split, delete or move content in another PST file.
Thanks to PSTStation Corporate's Monitoring job, IT administrators can now simplify PSTs monitoring by running a regular size checking on remote PSTs wherever they are stored. If a PST oversizes, PSTStation Corporate® automatically notifies owner's PST that he must take appropriate actions. It can also notify any group of administrators that some PSTs have reached their maximum allowed size.

Administrators can now change the location of PSTs files when they change hardware storage, for instance to use low cost disk arrays. As it includes a built-in and automatic update of the remote Outlook® profile, this feature is the best way to rearrange and optimize PST storage without adding extra heavy manual work to update remote Outlook® profiles.
This feature allows the organization to:
- Rearrange and optimize PST storage without adding extra heavy manual work to update remote Outlook® profiles
- Move PSTs from one server to another
- Move PSTs from local drives to a shared file server
- Move back PSTs from a shared file server to a local drive (used to come back in Microsoft official supported configuration)
- The update of remote Outlook® profiles can also be activated by itself, enabling for instance to change a mapped drive in its UNC path
